One of the unique aspects of People Camp is the opportunity to engage in shared experiences with other campers. We have numerous opportunities scheduled throughout the week. We also hold space for Interest Groups and spontaneous gatherings. Here are some of this year’s offerings:
WORKSHOPS

The wilderness skill workshop will be interactive, engaging, entertaining, and relatable to all generations. This workshop will focus on enhancing one's outdoor skills covering a wide range of activities from fire starting to plant identification.

Alternatives to Violence Project Youth Experiences
AVP has been a core element of People Camp for many years. Recently FNVW developed an Alternatives to Violence Youth Workshop for youth ages 10-30. AVP youth participants learn to resolve conflict nonviolently in community with one another, supported by facilitators who recognize the power young people have to create lasting change.
There will be two Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) mini workshops. We are lucky to have young people at People Camp who have been active in our Youth workshops. They will give you a taste of what those workshops have to offer.

BOOK CLUBS
On Fire: The Case for the Green New Deal
by Naomi Klein, Rebecca Lowman
An expansive, far-ranging exploration that sees the battle for a greener world as indistinguishable from the fight for our lives, On Fire captures the burning urgency of the climate crisis, as well as the fiery energy of a rising political movement demanding a catalytic Green New Deal.
How We Win: A Guide to Nonviolent Direct Action Campaigning
by George Lakey
A lifetime of activist experience from a civil rights legend informs this playbook for building and conducting nonviolent direct action campaigns. In an era of massive worldwide protests for racial and economic justice, it is important to remember that marching is only one way to take to the streets. Protest must be supplemented with the sustained direct action campaigns that are crucial to winning major reforms.
Beginning as a trainer in the civil rights movement of the 1960s, George Lakey has spent decades helping direct action tactics flourish and succeed on the front lines of social change. Now, in this timely and down-to-earth guide, he passes the torch to a new generation of activists. Lakey looks to successful campaigns across the world to help us see what has worked, what hasn’t, and why: from choosing the right target to designing a creative campaign; from avoiding burnout within your group to building a movement of movements to achieve real progressive victories.
Drawing on the experiences of a diverse set of ambitious change-makers, How We Win shows us the way to justice, peace, and a sustainable economy. This is what democracy looks like.
